16 Ways to Boost Your Mood

Hello everybody!  Happy Thursday!  We all feel discouraged at some point in our lives.  That's okay, it part of life!  One might be discouraged because they didn't get the grade they were hoping for on a test, or maybe they didn't get the job they wanted.  With that said, below are a few tips on how to conquer discouragement!  Enjoy!

1. Get into the Word

This is my favorite thing to do when I'm feeling kind of discouraged.  I don't know about you, but whenever I get into God's Word, my spirits are lifted.  You feel so much better when you talk things through with Him!  A few of my favorite Bible verses when I need encouragement are Psalms 26:5, Psalms 56:8, Psalms 119:114, Psalms 23:4, Psalms 138:8, and Isaiah 43:2.  I know, I know, that's a lot, but hey, God is good! ;)

2. Take some pictures

Another thing that cheers me up?  Photography!  I absolutely love taking pictures.  It makes you see the world in a different, more beautiful way.  You may notice something that you never would have before.

3. Watch your favorite movie

My favorite kind of movies to watch when I need a pick me up are comedy movies.  Who doesn't love a good laugh?  Of course, my all time favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice. ;) I highly recommend it!

4. Treat yo self

Whether  it's going to the spa, buying some flowers, eating a delicious chocolate covered doughnut, or even  a little shopping trip,  you deserve it!  Something I love to do is take a lavender shower and then lay in bed and go on Pinterest.

5. Hug a Furry Friend

If you don't have a furry friend, find one!  Haha, just kidding.  If you do not have a pet, hug someone you love.  When I hug my lil' pup {or loved one} it comforts me.

6. Soak Up the Sunshine

It's so nice to get outside in the warm sunshine.  I have been enjoying the beautiful weather lately. Especially, since we have had nothing but rain the last month.  Plus, a little Vitamin D never hurt anyone. ;)

7. Accomplish Small Tasks

Small accomplishments, such as dusting your room, can boost your mood.  Feeling accomplished and productive is a wonderful feeling.  It makes you feel better about yourself!

8. Turn Up the Music

Whenever I listen to upbeat music, I feel so much happier!  I absolutely LOVE acoustic guitar music.  That is one of the reasons Jack Johnson is one of my favorite artists.  A few of my other favorite jams are Taylor Swift {Swiftie forever!}, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Casting Crowns, Francesca Battistelli, and so many more!  Below are a few songs I have had on repeat the last few weeks...

9. Spread Happiness

Happiness really is contagious just like yawning! Not only does it make others feel good, it makes you feel good too.  Be happy, don't worry!

10. Think Happy Thoughts

One positive thought can change your day for the better.  The quote below is so true.  Even if life gets you down {and it will!} get back up, and keep on pushing.  God's got you in everything you do!

11. Get Artistic

Getting artsy can boost your mood even if you do not feel you are gifted in the arts.  Scientific studies show that painting and drawing help reduce stress.  So, drag out all of your art supplies and get artsy!  If you need a little inspiration, Pinterest is always my go to.

12. Read a Book

I am a total bookworm!  I will read whenever I have the chance. Every once in awhile it's nice to unplug and take a break from social media.  A few of my favorites are the Baxter Series, Angles Walking Series and The Chance

13. Have a Game Night

If you want a good laugh, have a family game night!  Some of our favorite games include, Clue, Apples to Apples, Headbandz, and the Wii!

14. Take a Walk

It's so refreshing to get outside and take in God's beauty.  Whether it's going to your local park or your backyard, just get outside.  Don't forget to bring your camera!

15. Write

There is something so peaceful about writing down your thoughts on paper. I have a notebook that I use just for writing my thoughts.  I guess you could call it a journal, but I like to call it my inspiration book.  I read it whenever I need encouragement. :)

16. Look Through Old Photos

Looking through old photos can bring back wonderful memories.  Our family loves to do this.  I love hearing the story behind each picture!
